🟣 Nationwide Mobilization Against Impunity

On the occasion of the 63rd edition of African Women’s Day (AWD), the “Stop Feminicides 237” Collective, led by Viviane Tathi Yende, launched a nationwide campaign on July 31, 2025, across several cities in Cameroon. The goal: denounce the growing impunity surrounding violence against women — especially feminicides.

Despite restrictions on public demonstrations due to the electoral climate, the group mobilized in cities including Yaoundé, Douala, Ebolowa, Maroua, Ngaoundéré, Kribi, and Bafoussam.

📌 "Advancing Social and Economic Justice for African Women Through Reparations."
This year’s celebration emphasizes the vital role African women play in development and the need for concrete measures to address systemic injustices.

🚨 Feminicides in Cameroon: Alarming Numbers

📈 69 reported cases in 2024, a 23.2% increase from 2023

⚠️ 10 cases already reported within the first 27 days of 2025


These figures expose a deepening crisis. Activists are calling out patriarchal judicial systems and a lack of institutional will to confront this growing threat.

Participants carried bold and urgent messages:

🔴 “For every feminicide: justice and protection”

⚫ “A patriarchal justice system enables impunity”

🔵 “The right to life is a woman’s right”

🛑 Demanding Institutional Reform

According to the Collective, raising awareness is no longer enough. They call for legal reforms and a functional judicial system to provide real protection for women.
