Establishment of Diabetic & High Blood Pressure Control Clinics in Rural Communities
As part of World Diabetes Day 2016 advocacy campaigns, with the theme "Eyes on Diabetes" VAHA and partners successfully established 02 Diabetic clinics in 02 major subdivisions of the North West Region of Cameroon, precisely in Mendankwe and Ndop. This was part of activities marking the commomeration of the interntional event, which culminated with a sticker campaign that was initiated by the organization and its team of volunteers and collaborators within the environs of the Bamenda Municipality.
The establishment of Diabetic clinics in two target communities by VAHA is an indication of the organizations increased committment to creating awareness on non communicable diseases as well as laying the framework for the establishment of a diabetic control, management and follow up mechanism for populations at risk, so as to reduce the risks of complications resulting from neglect of this disease.
As a reminder, World Diabetes Day is WHO's and IDFs response to growing concerns about the escalating health threats posed by diabetes particularly in developing countries, especially amongst the rural poor,
