Menstrual Dignity and School Safety: Awareness Campaign at Akwa Nord High School

As part of its awareness campaign on menstrual dignity in schools: breaking taboos and preventing violence against girls, the teams from Value Health Africa and Elle Rayonnent Ensemble conducted a highly impactful session at Akwa Nord High School.

👩‍🏫 Participants and Welcome

The Value Health Africa delegation included Megoudjou Arlette, Community Mobilization and Sexual and Reproductive Health Officer, and volunteer Deufo NANFACK Nistelle. They were joined by Elle Rayonnent Ensemble members Mvend Marthe Suzanne and Alpha.

The team was warmly welcomed by the school’s Red Cross Club, led by President KELLE WALLA, and Ms. BOYOMO, the school ASP.

🧑‍🎓 Student Engagement

Over 134 students gathered in the teachers’ lounge for a one-hour awareness session. The discussion focused on critical topics to empower and protect young girls.

Elle Rayonnent Ensemble highlighted:

    🩸 Menstrual dignity and self-confidence

🚫 Awareness on harassment and sexual violence in schools

Value Health Africa focused on:

    ✅ Education on respecting consent

🤝 Promoting appropriate behavior and a safe school environment

💬 Interactive Session

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, allowing students to ask questions and express concerns in an open, supportive setting.

🎁 Hygiene Support

The associations also had the opportunity to visit the school infirmary, where sanitary pads were distributed to support the girls’ menstrual hygiene and well-being.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to break taboos, promote sexual and reproductive health education, and strengthen the protection of girls in schools.
