The community of DoualaV municipality received technical support

Value Health Africa provided technical support to the Douala-V municipality during the community awareness campaign (25 May to 1 June). The campaign had has focus to;

Raise awareness on available barrier measures in place.

Sensitize the leaders on the reality of this pandemic.

Educate the communities on the proper wearing and removing of masks.

Demonstrate effective and efficient hand hygiene methods.

Inform the leaders about designated health facilities for the management of COVID-19 cases.

This ran from May 25 to June 1st, 2020. The workforce was composed of the Douala 5 council team and Value Health Africa.

This initiative has impacted more than 400 leaders and 31communities directly.

Some communities expressed the need for:

More face masks

A more decentralised approach in patient management and also providing medical personnel with the right PPEs

More protection kits and hand washing stations for community leaders.

However, the community awareness campaign was a major success and very beneficial for everyone. According to the residents of the different communities, the information received from the media was incomplete with the majority of senior individuals having limited access to the information needed
