VAHA Intergrades Nutrition Education in Community Control Clinics
Our newly recruited dietitian Nelsa Nabila on our monthly control clinic for diabetes and hypertensive patients at Balikumbat did an intensive talk on healthy eating; during which she elaborated on the importance of good eating habits and choosing the right foods as the premiere method of curbing down Non-communicable diseases. It was a very educative and interactive encounter with over 30 diabetes and hypertensive patients showing so much interest in understanding the dynamics in nutrition. At the end of the session, one could observe that the entire community is at high risk of progressing to NCDs and related complications not because of the unavailability of healthy foods but of ignorance on healthy nutrition, hence the need for constant education on healthy eating.

Considering the newly developed module on nutrition established by VAHA’s nutrition department headed by Nelsa Nabila, VAHA hopes to carry out comprehensive training sessions on nutrition within all her control clinics and check points in communities in Cameroon.
